Okay, I'm going to break my "this is fandom ONLY" journal thing this time, because...I HAVE OFFICIALLY GRADUATED FROM UNIVERSITY! *happy tears* There were times when I wondered if this day would ever come, and now, it is here! JOY. On a completely unrelated note, I have been watching copious amounts of Kyou Kara Maoh, and....is it wrong that Josak sometimes sorta slightly reminds me of Chiaki? Somebody shoot me. Of course, that just gives me images of Chiaki crossdressing...XD There's a fic in that somewhere, I swear. In other news, rebelintosanity and I have forged a pact to switch fandoms for a fic. Which means, I will be attempting to write a Phoenix Wright fic involving Edgeworth and Gumshoe in some way in the near future. o.O Seeing as how I've played, like, two sections of a game and know practically nothing at all about PW...it shall be very interesting. On the other hand, this means that rebelintosanity will be writing a MoB fic with Haruie and Kagetora. :D Can't wait to see how that turns out! So I watched "Gohatto" (Taboo) on youtube today. For those who don't know, it's a Japanese film set in the bakumatsu period (end of the samurai in the mid-19th century) in which a beautiful young man joins the local militia and wreaks havoc among his love-crazed fellow samurai. Ha, I actually watched it thinking that it might help me understand Kagetora's situation a little better in his first life. I was thinking about Cerise Tennyo's "Tsukiyo" the whole time, to be honest. True, it's set in a much later period, but the main theme is the same. An incredibly desirable youth who inadvertantly (ahem) drives the men around him mad with passion, and brings trouble upon himself as a result. It also has a very interesting little twist in it. It made me laugh at some inappropriate moments, as well, because I kept imagining Kagetora's possible reaction to some of the lines the guys were using. "I don't want to die before making love to you," or "I would give my life to hear the nightingale's song after having held you in my arms all night long." XD I can just imagine Kagetora's expression. Ah, warning for anyone who may watch it- there is some smut at one point. Tags: mirage, rl

Thank you :)
Yeah, I'm only up to episode 33, actually, but I sneak off to watch another every time I have a spare minute.
Josak's attitude reminds me of Chiaki somehow. That sort of flippant, disrespectful way of relating to people, particularly a superior. Take Josak's comment during the tournament, for example, that he likes Yuri best when he's not acting like a king. Reminds me of the way Chiaki gets along better with Ougi Takaya than the more refined and aloof Kagetora-sama.
Good point about Josak's relationship with Conrad being a little like Chiaki's relationship with Naoe. Friends despite great differences in temperament. They're also similar in that both Josak and Chiaki know that Conrad and Naoe place their loyalty to their respective leaders above their connection with their best friends.
Yikes, Wolframm as Yuzuru? I'd say they're more like opposites!
Conrad doesn't really seem much like Naoe to me except in two areas. First, the position Conrad holds as protector, emotional support, teacher, etc., is similar to the function that Naoe performs for Takaya. And secondly, the scarier, intense side that Conrad starts to show about the time that Gwendal's cousin shows up, where he'll warn Yuri (while smiling!) that he'll do whatever is necessary to keep Yuri safe, even if Yuri protests or thinks that it's wrong. That is pretty Naoe-like, to me, especially later in Mirage after Naoe comes back from the dead.

"I've been dying to discuss it with someone. " my line, exactly :) I was recommended this movie by a fellow kendoka because of the kenjutsu used in it...and was quite surprised that it's more of a piece about shuudou :) As much as I enjoyed the sword-fighting scenes (though perpetually going like 'dude, what are you doing with those feet...ever heard of kiai?...what do you have that kodachi for?...' see, that's how kendo deforms people...) I was really fascinated by the character of Sozaburo(and my mind keeps changing his name to Saburou). But I was so captivated by his own perversity and enigmas surrounding him, that Kagetora didn't even come on my mind when watching, until later on I searched for the similarities. I watched the movie over and over again, each time coming up with new theory about who killed whom and why...I also noticed, that the English subtitles can be a bit misleading because their cryptic talking had more to it than words would show, so I tried to figure out more, relying on my admittedly poor Japanese...only to end up with the conclusion, that Sozaburo probably really is that evil... I wonder what was your impression of him?
